Between 2006 and 2011, as the Director of Agronomy at Indian Wells Golf Resort in California, I led a transformative era at this prestigious 36-hole golf resort and municipal facility. My tenure saw a substantial $71 million renovation of courses and clubhouse involving esteemed architects John Fought and Clive Clark, resulting in widespread acclaim.

Key responsibilities included:

  1. Development and Construction Oversight: I played an instrumental role in the development and construction phase, particularly in planning and executing the grow-in process for the entire 36-hole facility.

  2. Operational Excellence: I established new operational standards, focusing on detail and high-quality maintenance to significantly elevate the facility's upkeep.

  3. Ecological Initiatives: I spearheaded ecological programs, cultivating over 30 acres of wildflowers and 24 acres of grasslands and desert plantings, contributing to the resort's achievement of Audubon Certification.

  4. Event Coordination: I effectively coordinated the property's preparation for major golf events, including the 2007 and 2008 LG Skins Game during Thanksgiving Weekend, the John Deere World Classic, the GCSAA National Tournament, the televised Albertsons Team Championships, and The Big Break TV series.

Overall, my leadership advanced the resort's physical and ecological features and enhanced its operational standards and event-hosting capabilities.

Montecito Country Club, Santa Barbara, CA 2013 – 2016

A private member golf club.  Designed by Max Behr in 1922.  Engaged with the membership during the transition prior to course renovations.

This premium golf facility, designed by Robert Trent Jones II, is located in Western New York and opened in the summer of 2010. It was acclaimed as the 6th Best New Course upon opening. The course is distinguished by its challenging design, featuring bentgrass turf from tee to green and roughs composed of a blend of bluegrass and ryegrass. It has been ranked as the 6th best course in New York and the 25th Best Casino Course in America.

Significant improvements and strategic initiatives have been undertaken to enhance the facility's operations and sustainability:

  1. Conducted a comprehensive audit of previous course operations to identify both strengths and limitations, establishing departmental objectives aimed at immediate enhancements and long-term sustainability.

  2. Developed and implemented site-specific agronomic programs to ensure optimal plant health and maintain world-class course conditions.

  3. Introduced fundamental staff training programs focused on improving quality, efficiency, and operational safety.

  4. Carried out an environmental site assessment in collaboration with the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, aiming to minimize the environmental impact of maintenance operations through advanced agronomic practices.

  5. Undertook a holistic enhancement of all golf course maintenance operations, which included elevating the professional presentation, intensifying staff training, and applying core agronomic principles.

  6. Successfully participated in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, completing the program and submitting final reports for review in 2013.
